Lenoir City women face burglary charges

Two Lenoir City women were arrested April 28 after taking property from a recently deceased man’s home.

Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Eric Curtis originally responded to a home in Lenoir City for a deceased male as reported by Deborah Jean Mills, 56, and Paula Faye Andrews, 52. A few hours later, Curtis was dispatched to the home again to investigate a burglary.

The home had been secured when Curtis left earlier in the day, but was unsecured when he returned that night. He also noticed several pill bottles were missing.

Curtis spoke to neighbors who reported seeing Mills and Andrew return to the home 30 minutes after the deputy left. Curtis contacted the man’s wife and son, who informed him nobody had been permitted to enter the residence. The son also told Curtis the home had a Ring door camera set up via the deceased man’s phone.

Curtis retrieved the phone and reviewed the footage in which Mills and Andrews were seen walking in the front yard. Mills entered the residence while Andrews sat outside and could be seen talking with some neighbors. When Mills reemerged, she was wearing a jacket she did not previously have and she handed Andrews a trash bag that appeared full.

Mills later admitted to Curtis that she entered the house after first claiming she had seen two other people do so. Both women were detained and transported to Loudon County Detention Center.

Mills and Andrews were both charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property and held without bond.
