Lenoir City Utilities Board warning customers about
scam
LENOIR CITY (WATE) - The Lenoir City Utilities Board is warning
customers after scam attempts on two of its commercial business
customers.
LCUB says the scammer identified herself as "Jennifer, a customer service representative" with the utility. She called two different hotels and said their power bill was overdue and would be disconnected within 30 minutes unless payment was submitted by money order at a local Pilot store. LCUB wants to remind customers they will never contact them by phone about a late payment. Late payment notices are delivered either as a part of your regular bill or door tags. If you receive a call like this do not provide any personal information to the caller. Please notify LCUBs Office of Safety and Risk at (865) 988-0739 with any information you can to help them track these scammers. |
