Lenoir City man helps neighbors in winter weather
James Vineyard has helped more than 60 people tow their car to safety over the last week and hasn’t charged anyone for it

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WVLT) - While many roads in East Tennessee are beginning to see the snow and ice melt, many are still stuck in dangerous conditions and in need of help.

James Vineyard calls Lenoir City home, and while he’s navigated these conditions without trouble thanks to his four-wheel drive vehicle, he’s also taken it upon himself to lend a helping hand to those who aren’t able to drive.

Over the last week, Vineyard has personally towed more than 60 cars to safety, driven people to and from work, and even made grocery store runs for people unable to leave their homes.

“It’s just the neighborly thing to do. I just feel like it’s the thing you should do for anybody. And I hope that if anyone was in that position someone would do it for me,” said Vineyard.

After making a few posts on Facebook, Vineyard has been receiving requests for help consistently for more than a week now.

Renee Standridge and Brandy Elhers have been getting rides to and from work from Vineyard, who until a week ago was a total stranger.

“Sometimes you think maybe there’s not that many people that want to help anymore but he’s an amazing person,” said Standridge.

Vineyard said he’s happy to help people who need a hand, and if you need assistance you’re asked to reach out to him on Facebook.
