LCSO On The Hunt
During the Christmas and New Year holidays the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office held a high visibility traffic safety campaign with The Governors Highway Safety Office for 2008. The goal of the campaign was to enforce traffic laws and find impaired drivers through the holiday season. We held two days of officer saturation through-out the county. On the 27th of December we used an additional four officers and on December 31 we used an additional five officers between the times of 9:00 pm and 3:00 am. The result was very successful in protecting our citizens and travelers during the holidays, in that there was only one injury accident on Interstate 75 @ the 72 exit and had no fatalities. With the extra patrol the sheriff’s office made a total of (60) traffic stops which resulted in (6) DUI arrest, (3) suspended or revoked license arrest, a total of (4) drug arrest with (3) felony and (1) misdemeanor charge (5) public intoxication arrest and additional (33) traffic citations. The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office will continue the effort in keeping our county safe from impaired drivers and speeders. Sheriff Tim Guider |
