LCSO DETECTIVES WARN OF RECENT SCAM, THIEVES POSING AS LOCAL CHURCH CLERGY

LOUDON COUNTY, TENN.- There’s a new wave of scam attempts in Loudon County aimed at preying on local church goers.

LCSO Detectives are investigating scam cases that involve phone scam artists who are calling local residents and pretending to be their church’s pastor. These callers use phone apps aimed at making the phone number that you see on caller ID appear that it is a direct call from your local church. They then go on to call victims by name and build a quick rapport. Eventually the scam artists thugs will ask you to help a family in need that is hospitalized through the purchase of gift cards.

If you receive a call of ANY TYPE that requires the purchase of gift cards to pay a bill, bond a loved one out of jail, or maintain your freedom, LCSO is asking you to HANG UP! No legitimate business or government agency or church will ever ask you to purchase gift cards and send them the information over the phone.

PLEASE SHARE this important reminder to your loved ones, especially those who are elderly and often fall prey to these con artists.
