Knoxville man dies in Loudon County interstate crash

LOUDON - A 52-year-old Knoxville man died when the Ford Explorer he was driving went out of control on Interstate 75, ejected him while rolling and came to rest on him.

Jose A. Rodriguez died in the 5:36 p.m. Monday crash near the 77 mile marker on I-75, according to a report filed by Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Matthew Armes. Rodriguez was not using a seat belt, the trooper noted.

Rodriguez was northbound on I-75 when the 1997 Explorer left the left side of the roadway. Rodriguez got the SUV back onto the road, but it began to roll and flipped multiple times as it went down an embankment on the right side of the interstate, Armes wrote.

The Explorer came to rest on its top down the embankment, with Rodriguez trapped under it.
