News Herald Arrest Report

Kingston man arrested after pursuit

A Kingston man was arrested after fleeing from law enforcement in a pursuit that began in Roane County.

Dispatchers told Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Michael Watkins on Oct. 26 that Roane County Sheriff’s Office was in pursuit of burglary suspect Donald Isaac Williams, 43, on Highway 70. At the Roane-Loudon county line, the pursuit was terminated by Roane County.

Watkins then saw a vehicle matching the description from dispatch on Hotchkiss Valley Road heading east and crossing the double yellow line.

“Upon attempting to stop the stepside Ford Ranger pickup that had no license plate visible, it began speeding off and refused to stop,” Watkins wrote in a report. “The vehicle continued on Hotchkiss Valley Road onto numerous other roads and highways and still refused to stop.”

The Ford Ranger then traveled on U.S. Highway 321 and side-swiped another vehicle before wrecking near Pond Road and Highway 11.
Williams was arrested without incident and charged with four counts of reckless endangerment and evading arrest and held on $55,000 bond.

Maryville man faces assault charge

A Maryville man is charged with domestic assault after a woman asked a random homeowner to call 911.

According to a report from Lenoir City Police Officer Ron DeLand, the woman said she had been in an argument with Kevin Scott Hutton, 34.

The woman told DeLand that she and Hutton were helping friends move to a residence on Kingston Street. The two got into an argument over past relationships, and the woman allegedly admitted having sex with someone while she and Hutton were on a break. Hutton then slapped the woman, according to the report.

“(The woman) and Kevin went outside and continued arguing,” DeLand wrote in a report. “Kevin threatened to kill her. She took off running up Kingston Street to get away from him. She knocked on random people’s houses seeking help. That’s when she made contact with the caller at ... Kingston Street, who called 911. I saw (the woman) had a 2-inch cut on her forehead. It appeared to be a few days old. (The woman) said Kevin threw a can at her and it struck her in the head a few days ago.”

Law enforcement went to the residence to speak with Hutton, who was “very uncooperative, verbally combative and wouldn’t write a statement about what occurred.”
Hutton was charged with domestic assault and held on $3,000 bond.
