Intoxicated man threatens suicide in fight

A Loudon man is facing assault charges after law enforcement was sent to Highland Avenue in Loudon for a possible suicide.
Loudon Police Officer James Cogdill met Lorenzo Medina Galvan, 30, at the residence. Galvan was bleeding from the head, and Cogdill noticed Galvan had a “strong smell of an alcoholic beverage,” according to the report.

Galvan said he and a woman had gotten into a verbal argument over the woman spending Galvan’s money. After speaking with the woman, Cogdill learned Galvan threw an open can of beer at the woman and struck her on the right side of her head.

“She also stated she attempted to get her phone and he grabbed her, keeping her from calling law enforcement,” Cogdill wrote in the report. “She stated Mr. Galvan then proceeded to smash a glass candle over his head. She also stated that he took a knife and placed it to his throat.”

The woman said she was afraid for her life and the lives of her children during the altercation.
Galvan was charged with domestic assault-felony and public intoxication and held on $16,000 bond.
