Friendsville man found with gun

A Friendsville man is facing
charges for DUI and possessing a handgun while under the influence
after running a stop sign and hitting another vehicle.
Dispatched to a wreck Friday at Depot and Bank streets, Lenoir City
Police Det. Kay Arnwine talked with a man, James Phillip Garland,
41, who said that he ran the stop sign and hit another truck.
“I ask Mr. Garland if he was on medication and he stated yes. I
ask Mr. Garland to sit in the truck and he started backing the
truck up to get it out of the road, almost hitting another
vehicle,” Arnwine said, adding that Garland was unsteady on his
feet and was unable to perform field sobriety tasks.
“While inventorying his truck for a tow a gun was located in the
center of the floorboard under a jacket,” Arnwine said.
Garland was charged with driving under the influence and
possession of a handgun while under the influence and released
on $3,500 bond.
Loudon man jailed for pot
A Loudon man is behind bars at Loudon County Jail after law
enforcement allegedly found pot and drugs on his person.
Initially arresting a man Jan. 22 for a violation of community
corrections warrant, Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kenny
Palmer wrote in his report that he searched Jonathan Richard
Viars’ person.
“While searching Mr. Viars I felt what I believed to be a pill
container located in Mr. Viars waist band. I removed the pill
container at which time I located a green leafy substance
believed to be marijuana, and a 1/4 of a peach pill believed to
be a 40 mg methadone wafer,” Palmer said. “Mr. Viars stated that
the pill was methadone.”
Viars, 20, was charged with Schedule II drug violations, simple
possession/casual exchange and violation of community
corrections and held on $2,000 bond.
Jan. 22
- Ryan Casey Balding, 32, Cleveland, was charged with
theft under $500 and released on $2,000 bond. Responding to
a call of a theft at a Lenoir City retail store, LCPD
Officer Jason Felts wrote in his report that Balding was
observed taking a television past all points of sale without
paying for the item.
- Seth Daniel Bryson, 24, Vonore, was charged with theft
under $500 and released on $2,000 bond. LCPD Officer Brandon
Gentry wrote in his report that Bryson was observed leaving
a Lenoir City retail store without paying for merchandise.
- Corey Ronald Carter, 37, Lenoir City, was charged with
public intoxication, simple possession of a Schedule III
substance, simple possession of a Schedule IV substance,
simple possession of a Schedule II substance and simple
possession of a Schedule VI substance and released on $5,000
bond. Dispatched to a truck stop in reference to a possibly
intoxicated couple, LCPD Officer Keith Sennett wrote in his
report that Carter was unstable on his feet and had
difficulty speaking properly. “After taking the subject into
custody a smoking pipe with (a) green leafy substance (of)
approx. 1 gram” was found, Sennett said. “Defendant stated
it was marijuana. Located in defendant’s coat pocket was a
Tic Tac container of various pills, 20 acetaminophen
hydrocodone 325mg, 7.5mg; three alprazolan 2mg and another
one alprazolan 2mg.”
- Jason Michael Hale, 33, Greenback, was charged with
contempt of court and failure to appear on domestic and held
on $6,500 bond.
- Randall Scott Henry, 38, Philadelphia, was charged with
failure to appear on possession of drug paraphernalia and
violation of probation on possession of drug paraphernalia
and released on $3,000 bond.
- Jacquline Josephine Shaver, 21, Loudon, was charged with
theft under $500 and released on $1,000 bond. LCPD Officer
Brandon Gentry wrote in his report that Shaver was observed
leaving a Lenoir City retail store without paying for
merchandise.
- Brittany Alexis Shelley, 22, Greenback, was charged with
four Blount County warrants and held without bond.
- James William Skidmore, 56, Lenoir City, was charged
with theft over $500 and released on $5,000 bond.
- Jessica Franke Tallant, 36, Knoxville, was charged with
public intoxication and released on $1,000 bond. Dispatched
to a truck stop in reference to a possibly intoxicated
couple, LCPD Officer Keith Sennett wrote in his report that
Tallant was allegedly unsteady on her feet, had slurred
speech and had trouble staying awake.
- James Eric Wilson, 28, Cleveland, was charged with theft
under $500 and released on $2,000 bond. Responding to a
Lenoir City retail store in reference to a theft, LCPD
Officer Jason Felts wrote in his report that Wilson was
observed taking two televisions past all points of sale
without paying for the merchandise.
Jan. 23
- Kayla Hope Abercrombie, 27, Lenoir City, was charged
with failure to appear-child support, possession of a
Schedule II substance and possession of a Schedule IV
substance and held without bond. Dispatched to a call of a
shoplifting incident at a Lenoir City retail store, LCPD
Officer Nick Halsey wrote in his report that Abercrombie had
a warrant for her arrest and was in possession of narcotics.
“Upon searching the vehicle, I found Schedule II and
Schedule IV narcotics. The narcotics are as follows: eight
2mg Clonozepam (Schedule IV), 10 30 mg Amphetamine (Schedule
II) and 14 10mg Amphetamine (Schedule II),” Halsey said.
- Kayla Michelle Allison, 23, Lenoir City, was charged
with failure to appear-general sessions and released on
$1,000 bond.
- Stephanie Marie Biddwell, 29, Athens, was charged with a
Polk County warrant and held without bond.
- Timothy Wade Black, 55, Sweetwater, was charged with a
Monroe County warrant and held without bond.
- Rhonda Renea Givens, 40, Sweetwater, was charged with
criminal court capias and held on $3,000 bond.
- Kristi Denise Ketner, 43, Loudon, was charged with
making false statements/reports and fraudulent insurance act
and released on $10,000 bond.
- Shane Edward Snyder, 30, Loudon, was charged with
contempt of court and released on $130 bond.
- Billy Jack Teaster, 32, Maryville, was charged with
failure to appear-general sessions and held on $2,500 bond.
- Robert Andrew Yelverton, 25, Lenoir City, was charged
with violation of community corrections, two criminal court
capias bench warrants out of Loudon County, a Knox County
warrant and held without bond.
Jan. 24
- Susan Ruth Anderson, 51, Loudon, was charged with
driving under the influence and released on $2,000 bond.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Ryan Smith wrote in his
report that a driver, Anderson, had slurred speech,
bloodshot eyes and was lethargic and unsteady on her feet.
Smith also said that Anderson admitted to drinking alcohol
and was prescribed Wellbutrin and Celexa and had taken the
medication earlier in the morning. “Upon inventory of the
vehicle a open container containing an alcoholic beverage
was discovered in the front driver seat cup holder,” Smith
said. “Subject stated at the hospital that she had been
drinking all morning.”
- Douglas Edward Branum, 31, Loudon, was charged with
driving on a revoked/suspended license, failure to
appear-general sessions and failure to appear-violation of
probation-Lenoir City and was held on $3,000 bond. Stopping
a vehicle for going 64 mph in a 50 mph zone, LCSO Deputy
Kenny Palmer wrote in his report that the driver, Branum,
had a suspended license for failure to satisfy a citation.
“Dispatch also advised Mr. Branum had a warrant out of
Loudon County for failure to appear. ... Upon further
investigation I did find Mr. Branum had four prior driving
on suspended,” Palmer said.
- Alena Lo Garalczyk-Lawson, 39, Philadelphia, was charged
with violation of probation for simple
possession-methamphetamine and held on $2,500 bond.
Jan. 25
- Jeremy Wayne Aikens, 38, Lenoir City, was charged with
failure to appear-general sessions and aggravated stalking
and released on $2,775 bond.
- Chelsey Autumn Williams, 25, Louisville, was charged
with driving under the influence, possession of drug
paraphernalia and simple possession/casual exchange and
released on $6,000 bond. Dispatched to Interstate 75
southbound in reference to a reckless driver, LCSO Deputy
Jamie Ketner stopped a vehicle matching descriptions and
talked to the driver, later identified as Williams, who
allegedly had slurred speech and a strong odor of an
alcoholic beverage. “I explained to her why I stopped her
and she stated ‘that she needs a ride home’,” Ketner said,
adding that Williams admitted to drinking three beers and
performed poorly on field sobriety tasks. “Upon the vehicle
inventory I discovered one marijuana blunt, approximately
two grams of marijuana, one pack of rolling papers and three
glass pipes,” Ketner said.
- Auburn Cassie Yates, 28, Lenoir City, was charged with
possession of a Schedule VI/IV/III/VI for resale and held
without bond. LCSO Deputy Chance Gray wrote in his report
that Yates had an active violation of community corrections
warrant.
Jan. 26
- Dena Alcia Adkins,37, Philadelphia, was charged with
three counts of failure to appear-general sessions and held
on $4,266 bond.
- Hector Garcia Almanza, 27, Loudon, was charged with
cite-in-violation of implied consent and driving under the
influence-fifth offense and held on $5,000 bond. Noticing a
vehicle run a stop sign on Church Street as it was crossing
Ward Avenue onto Rosedale Avenue, Loudon Police Officer
Bennie Houser stopped the vehicle and talked with the
driver, Almanza, who allegedly had a strong odor of an
intoxicant but the driver denied that he had been drinking.
“While running Mr. Almanza’s driver’s license the status
came back valid with ignition interlock required until
05/04/15,” Houser said, adding that Almanza performed poorly
on field sobriety tasks. “After getting Mr. Almanza to the
jail he refused the implied consent stating he did not
understand,” Houser said. “Mr. Almanza also read the Spanish
version and stated he did not understand it either.”
- Clifton Ray Dykes, 61, Greenville, S.C., was charged
with criminal court capias and released on $4,000 bond.
- Johnathon Daniel Fisher, 26, Loudon, was charged with
theft of property and released on $2,500 bond.
- Toby James Townson, 46, Kingston, was charged with
criminal court capias and held without bond.
