Interstate Update

The traffic coming of the interstate onto Sugarlimb Road has gotten terrible. With everyone using GPS maps now, they're all looking for the shortest rout around the interstate construction. One of the hardest hit areas has been Hotchkiss Valley Road. Tractor trailers, buses and cars all traveling way to fast have been causing very dangerous conditions. Some of the bypass traffic is even finding it's way down Harrison Road.

I spoke with Billy Pickle, assistant county highway superentendent, last week to see if we could get the state to put a detour sign at the end of the north bound Sugar Limb exit ramp to send the traffic to Hwy. 11 rather than Hotchkiss Valley.

Pickle contacted Mark Nagi with TDOT with our concerns. Below is his response.

Maybe there's relief in sight.
