Hemelright Resigns

Loudon County Board Of Education maintenance coordinator, Dave Hemelright has resigned. Hemelright who has sometimes been a point of controversy for the board tendered his resignation to the director of schools at Thursday night's board meeting. His resignation becomes effective June 30th at the end of his current contract. Last year the board voted to terminate both Hemelright and then director Edward Headlee but failed to gain a majority vote.

Maintenance for the schools has been a constant issue for the board. Hemelright's job as maintenance coordinator was to manage the schools maintenance issues. Hemelright had no staff but had to depend on county maintenance or hire contractors to perform work. The school board has been considering hiring their own maintenance personal. This idea is expected to be discussed during the budget process.
