The Town Creek Greenway in Lenoir City reopened Thursday after being closed for months because of safety concerns over an embankment. "I think the public will like the finished product," said Steve Harrelson, director of the Parks and Recreation Department. "Now people can enter the trail from either side and use the entire trail."

With the complete path open it spans 1.7 miles, he said. That portion of the walkway is not lit, and so is used primarily during the day. The repairs to the embankment cost $57,000, and Harrelson said the improvements also give the area a better look than it had before with the newly installed gabion wall.
