Greenback woman killed in Lenoir City motorcycle crash

LENOIR CITY (WATE) - A Greenback woman who was a passenger on a motorcycle was killed in a crash in Lenoir City Wednesday night.

Scarlet S. Bass, 24, was riding on a motorcycle that collided with a car on U.S. Highway 321 at Friendship Road around 7:44 p.m., according to police.

The names of the other people involved in the crash haven't been released.

Police said no charges will be filed until their investigation is complete.

NOTE: Ms. Bass is the daughter of Greenback resident and former school board member, Larry Bass. Our thought and prayers go to the Bass family.


Greenback woman dies in motorcycle accident

A Loudon County woman died Wednesday from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident, according to Lenoir City Officer Jeremy Dishner.
 

The victim, Scarlet Bass, 24, of Greenback, was the passenger on a motorcycle driven by Jamey L. Upton, 32, of Sweetwater, when the accident occurred at about 7:44 p.m.
 

Dishner said the motorcycle, a 2005 Yamaha, collided with a 2000 Hyundai driven by Ricky L. Gilland, 24, of Lenoir City. Also in the car was T.K. Smith, 20, of Lenoir City.

The accident occurred on Highway 321 at Friendship Road.

Dishner said the investigation is ongoing and no charges will be filed until its completion.
