Greenback teacher accused of soliciting minor for sex makes court appearance

MARYVILLE (WATE) - The Greenback School teacher accused of using Facebook to solicit a minor for sex was back in a Blount County courtroom Friday.

Angela Masingo is facing felony child sex charges including solicitation of aggravated statutory rape and solicitation of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Masingo waived her right to a preliminary hearing Friday morning and her case will now be presented to a grand jury.

Blount and Loudon County sheriff's deputies say Masingo sent inappropriate Facebook messages to a student at another school.

Deputies also say she used a cell phone to show the teen explicit material.

Masingo is on suspension without pay from Greenback School.
