Georgia man arrested on murder charge

A Georgia man was arrested after a brief chase by state and local law enforcement.

In the early morning of Nov. 21, Tennessee Highway Patrol and Loudon County Sheriff’s Office were informed a vehicle driven by Brandon David Howard, 37, of Dallas, Ga., was possibly in the area after a phone ping. Howard had an active warrant out of Georgia and was a suspect in a homicide.

THP continued to ping Howard’s phone and located him at a residence on Get Good Hollow Road. Law enforcement units arrived and found the vehicle in the driveway with two men inside.

Cpl. Luke Hawkins and another deputy pulled into the driveway, according to the arrest report from LCSO. The two announced themselves and requested that Howard stop.

Howard then drove off an embankment in the front yard. He was taken into custody and is pending extradition to Georgia. The vehicle was towed for evidence processing.

Law enforcement talked with three others inside the residence and all were detained for questioning. A cellphone SIM card was found inside a pocket of one those transported. The man told deputies the SIM card belonged to Howard, who asked that he hold it for him, according to the arrest report.

Howard was charged with evading arrest and fugitive from justice and held on $3,500 bond.
