By News Sentinel staff
FRIENDSVILLE, Tenn. - A Friendsville, Tenn. woman
died today after losing control of her vehicle on U.S. Highway 321
in Loudon County, authorities said.
Sandra Schmidt, 55, was traveling east on U.S. Highway 321 when her vehicle drifted into the westbound lane of traffic, said Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Miller. Schmidt over corrected, lost control and ran off the left side of the roadway. That's when, Miller said, her car began overturning before coming to a final stop in the median. Schmidt was wearing her seatbelt. Miller said it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, but tests have been requested for each. No other vehicles were involved in the accident. |
