Former Loudon sheriff's candidate arrested on domestic violence charge

A former candidate for Loudon County sheriff in this year’s race was arrested Sunday by members of the department he once sought to lead.

Loudon County sheriff’s deputies took James Edward Massengill, 64, Lenoir City, into custody about 2 p.m. on a Monroe County arrest warrant charging him with domestic violence aggravated assault.

Massengill is free on a $5,000 bond.
