First Check

Last week I got my first social security check since I retired. I guess first direct deposit would be the appropriate language. I've been paying into the system since 1974. Now I'm going to get a little of it back. Probably won't live to get back all I paid in but I'm going to get all I can while I can.

I also learned that after being in various elected office for nearly sixteen years, I had a little retirement with the state. Called to sign up for that and the man said I could draw $104 per month for the rest of my life. I said, sign me up. Problem is, I can't draw that till I'm no longer with the county. Oh well.

I've also learned that now that I'm on SS, I am limited to how much other income I'm allowed to make. I think it's like 18k per year before it starts to cut into my SS payment. Why is that? Why doesn't the government want me to make as much money as I can? I'd be paying taxes on it.

Anyway, I'm now on the rocking chair money.

Problem, I'm still working same as I was.

A farmer's work is never done.
