Federal charges filed against men involved in Lenoir City armed robbery

LENOIR CITY (WATE) - Federal charges have been filed against the man accused of robbing a Lenoir City fast food restaurant, then leading officers in Knox County on a three-hour manhunt.

Charges have also been filed against another man in connection with the robbery.

Joshua Hayworth, 23, and Timothy E. Chudley, 35, both of Lenoir City, were charged on Wednesday with violations of the federal Hobbs Act.

Federal officials allege Hayworth, with the assistance of Chudley, planned the robbery of the Lenoir City Burger King, which happened on January 30.

Hayworth was then seen driving a stolen vehicle in West Knox County, which he abandoned in a mobile home park on Bob Gray Road.

Later that day, Hayworth is accused of carjacking another vehicle from a pregnant woman on Doubletree Lane, which he later crashed.

Officials say he then broke into a home where he was arrested. Hayworth also faces carjacking charges.

A follow-up investigation uncovered Chudley's role in the robbery. Chudley was arrested without incident Wednesday.
