EXCLUSIVE: Fiancee of Lenoir City man shot and killed still looking
for answers
LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WVLT) --
The fiancee of a Lenoir City man who was shot and killed earlier
this week talked about the final moments the two shared together.
Ashley Brewster still can't believe her fiancé was killed before her very eyes on Wednesday. She and Michael Brown were getting ready to be married next month, but her life was turned upside down when Brown was shot while at his neighbor's house. "Taylor shot him in the chest. In the heart," Brewster said. Brown was at his neighbor, Taylor Johnson's house, when the two got into an argument. Brewster said she was walking to Johnson's house when she heard the first shot, and went running inside to find out what was going on. She said when she walked in, Brown had his hands in the air and was trying to leave the house, when Taylor pulled the trigger again. "I laid him (Brown) down, and I did CPR on him until the ambulance got there. He was breathing when I had him in my arms," Brewster said through tears. Brown was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police have said Taylor is the man responsible, but haven't charged him with any crime, or placed him under arrest. They said the case is still under investigation, and because of that, they can't release any details as to why an arrest hasn't been made. That's an answer that isn't settling well with Brown's family. "It doesn't seem right. There's no rhyme or reason to it. He had just helped this man out, and he killed him," Brown's mother Elaine Sandy said. Brewster said Brown was a man who didn't like confrontation, he loved his family, and didn't deserve to die. "Michael was too good for that. Michael was a very, very good man. A very good man," Brewster said. Police said an autopsy has been done on Brown, and they expect the results back within the next week. |
