| A Saturday afternoon wreck sent two local ladies,
Barbara Littleton and Mary Longworth to the hospital with possible head,
neck and back injuries. The ladies were traveling east toward Knoxville
on Hwy. 11 at Dixie Lee Junction when a drunk Mexican driving a Saturn
lost control of his vehicle first striking the van driven by Ms.
Littleton then smashing hard into a large concrete pole. Witnesses on
the scene stated that the driver of the Saturn was driving recklessly
and at a high rate of speed just prior to the wreck.
Apparently as the drunk approached the intersection of
Hwy. 11 and 70 at the junction, he made a last minute decision to
suddenly change lanes losing control of his vehicle striking the van and
the pole. Officers on the scene stated that the driver of the Saturn was
extremely drunk, had no driver license or insurance. He was also
transported to the hospital.
