In Loudon County, a $1,038,400.02 contract to rehabilitate a bridge on I-40 over U.S. 321 near the Roane County line will reduce the road to one lane in each direction. The single-lane restrictions will be in place for 10 days, beginning Wednesday.

Crews with Mid-State Construction Company Inc. in Livingston, Tenn., will be repairing the bridge guardrails, concrete deck and support structures, according to the TDOT contract.

Mid-State Construction has until Oct. 31 to finish the project. If work continues beyond that deadline, the company faces daily liquidated damages of $740, according to the TDOT contract.

Mid-State Construction won the contract by under bidding three other companies, with the highest bid at $1.68 million. Mid-State Construction won the job by submitting a bid $1,577 lower than the second-best bid.
