Don F. Palmer - age 79 of Lenoir City passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 after a lingering illness. Don was a loving husband and dad. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member of Avery Lodge F & AM, 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. Don served as Loudon County Road Superintendent for 24 years, and was past president of the Tennessee County Highway Officials Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lois Palmer; brothers, Ray, Joe Edward and Tommy Palmer.

Survived by his wife of 60 years, Rose Cannon Palmer; children and spouses: Mike (Brenda) Palmer of Poquoson, VA, Donna (Frank) Pickel-Weaver, Patty (Mark) Haynes, Charlotte (Duane) Waller, Loretta (Richard) Turbeville all of Lenoir City; grandchildren: Stephen (Ana) Palmer of Austin, TX, Dr. Amanda (Tim) Polsinelli of Cincinnati, OH, Billy (Carol) Pickel, Jessica Bryant, Joshua (Alexis) Turbeville, Carrie (Andrew) Chadwick, Cassie Haynes, Jacob Turbeville, Nicole (Kevin) Harman, Zachary (Maree) Haynes; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Pat Curtis, mother-in-law, Rosa Cannon Hubbard; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam Cannon, Sue (Douglas) Bright, Gene (Martha) Cannon, Odie (Datha) Hubbard, Nell Stallsworth; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Freddie Shaver and William (Shack) Lee.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Donny Crass, Rev. Frank Weaver and Mike Palmer officiating. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lakeview Cemetery for graveside services.

Serving as pallbearers: Stephen Palmer, Billy Pickel, Zachary Haynes, Andrew Chadwick, Kevin Harman, Joshua Turbeville, Jacob Turbeville, Ryan Bright, David Curtis, Steve Curtis and Greg Curtis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
