Authorities placed Lenoir City Elementary School in a
soft lockdown (Friday) because of an ongoing domestic
call in nearby apartments.
The call to the apartments came in about 10 a.m.,
according to the Lenoir City Police Department. Officers
at 11:15 a.m. were still engaged with the situation.
A Loudon County emergency dispatcher said officials
opted to place the school in a soft lockdown as a
precaution. A soft lockdown entails closing the outside
doors so no one can enter or leave.
The dispatcher emphasized the lockdown was a precaution
only and there was no anticipated danger to the students
because of the police activity.
Lenoir City Police Chief Don White and School
Superintendent Jeanne Barker were not immediately
available for comment.
