Doing It Legal?
For The First Time
For the first time ever, Lenoir City officials are
following the law pertaining to annexation, almost.
Two parcels of property are being considered for annexation into the city. The greenhouse property on Hwy. 11 at Highland Park and the parcel at Eaton's Crossroads for a new Casey's gas station. Signs have been placed on the property, letters were sent to the county mayor and all county commissioners informing them of the proposed annexations. This is what state law requires for all annexations. The only missing part now is an inter-local agreement with the county on the Highland Park annexation. Just think, if city officials had followed the law back in 2020 and 2022, the current ongoing lawsuit between the county and city would never have been necessary. The public hearing and vote by the Lenoir City council on both annexations will be at their July 14th council meeting. |
