Detour

Commuters traveling Hwy. 321 north or south under the I-40 Interstate bridge near Melton Hill will have to make a slight detour for at least a few weeks. The bridge was damaged Tuesday when the raised lift arms of a Waste Management garbage truck slammed into the bridge. The impact knocked a hole in a steel beam. About a ton of concrete fell onto the roadway. One lane of 321 is closed so support beams could be erected under the bridge to add extra support for the damaged I-beam. TDOT has not stated when the bridge will be repaired.
