Democrat Or Republican

One thing I appreciate about the folks that visit my website is their attention to detail. Last week, in the story I did about Lenoir City councilman Eddie Simpson, running against me in next year's election, I mentioned that I wasn't sure if he was going to run as a Democrat or a Republican given his history of Lenoir City council "tax and spend" votes and his past presidential voting record. Many of you have asked about his past presidential voting record that I mentioned.

Many, many years ago, most Loudon County voters were democrats. As time went on and the democrat party became more and more radicalized, leftists and socialists, common sense voters fled the democrat party for the republican party. Loudon County is now deep red republican, conservative and has been for a long time. Anybody looking to run for a local political office know they have to run republican to have any chance to win.

Who you vote for is never known to anyone but yourself. However, which primary election, democrat or republican, you vote in is public information. According to that information, as recently as 2004, Councilman Simpson voted in the democrat presidential primary election. There is no way to know which democrat he voted for, but for sure he didn't vote for George Bush who was running for re-election. His candidate of choice had to be one of the democrats on the ballot, all of which were far left wingers listed below.  John Kerry was ultimately the democrat presidential candidate.

Richard Gephardt
Joseph Lieberman
Wesley K. Clark
Howard Dean
Carol Moseley
Braun
John Edwards
Dennis J. Kucinich
John F. Kerry
Lyndon H.
LaRouche, Jr.
Al Sharpton

We've all heard the term "RINO" Republican In Name Only. I think Mr. Simpson wears the title well. While he promotes himself as a republican, his "tax and spend" council votes and his past federal voting records shows an entirely different mindset.

Mr. Simpson has every right to be a democrat, but the least he could do is be honest with himself and more importantly, the voters.
