Curious

I may be the only one, but after every election I like to look over the numbers and outcomes.

I think it's safe to say Tennessee is pretty much a reliable republican voting state, East Tennessee being strongly republican and Loudon County being staunch conservative republican. But as I look back at the numbers in the August election, it's a little hard to figure out what message the voters were sending.

A lot had been made about the state level primary races for republican incumbents Lamar Alexander and Jimmy Duncan. Both had strong challengers. Joe Carr taking on Alexander and Jason Zachery challenging Duncan. Ultimately both incumbents held on to their seats but neither carried Loudon County.

Below is a precinct by precinct report of the two races. It shows a mixed bag on how each precinct turned out for the candidates. Some precincts supported both incumbents some supported the challengers and some split on incumbents and challengers.

I find these results confusing but interesting. Not exactly sure what they mean.
