Credit Due

This past year has been tough for everyone, including the local school system.

The administrators, teachers and staff  Loudon County school system have done incredible work to keep the schools open and on schedule as much as possible, and that's been no easy task. They all take their jobs seriously and are well aware of the importance of in person learning for kids.

They know that a lot of parents have the flexibility for online education but they also know that many, many other parents have no such flexibility. So they've chosen the path to make both options available. Everyone has the choice they feel comfortable with.

Don't really want to get into to calling names because they could all be commended but a lot of credit is due to director Mike Garren and supervisor Matthew Tinker. They've been walking a tightrope with both hands full for months now and have kept their balance pretty good so far. Other local school systems could learn from their example.

There's no way to know where this crazy virus stuff is headed, but at least we can depend that the Loudon County school administrators will continue to do right by their students as best as they can.
