Loudon Man Dies After Vehicle Flips

Stephanie Myers News Herald

A Loudon man died Monday afternoon during a single-car accident in which his vehicle overturned into a creek at Rock Springs Park in Lenoir City.

Lenoir City Police Chief Don White said Tuesday that William Brian Collis, 45, was transported to Fort Loudon Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Though the department is still waiting on medical results, White said he believes Collis could have been having a medical problem.

"There was never any actions taken from the driver to indicate that he was trying to get the vehicle stopped, so it appeared he was having some type of medical emergency," White said, adding that the vehicle left the roadway near Rock Springs Road and Fourth Avenue.

"The vehicle left the roadway and traveled approximately 200 feet on the right side of the road and then crossed back over Rock Springs and went down into the park and entered the creek and struck a large rock which overturned the truck into the creek," White said.

Collis was not ejected from the vehicle, White said.
