Courthouse Update

The courthouse burned April 2019. The the cleanup and stabilization was completed earlier this year. The cost so far for all that and relocation of offices and storage is near four million dollars.

For nearly six months, no additional work has been done on the building. According to county mayor, Buddy Bradshaw, the problem is communication between the insurance company and the architect. Apparently the insurance company and the architect company disagree on some of the reconstruction plans. Not sure why that has taken nearly six months.

Back in 2019, the insurance company assured commissioners that they would rebuild the courthouse exactly how it was before it burned. The estimate just to put the new roof on and make repairs on the outside of the building is in the five million dollar range. This does not include the interior.

This is going to take years to get done.
