Couple indicted for second-degree
murder

A husband and wife were indicted by
a grand jury Dec. 14 for
second-degree murder stemming from
an incident that took place over the
summer in the 8500 block of Jackson
Bend Road.
Lenoir City Police Department opened
an investigation in August after
Lenoir City resident Kevin Fifield
overdosed on heroin Aug. 22,
according to a press release from
the department.
Ricky Glenn Powell, 40, Lenoir
City, and his wife, Dawn Marie
Powell, 37, Lenoir City, were
charged with second-degree
murder and booked Dec. 17 into
Loudon County Jail. Lenoir City
Police Chief Don White could not
be reached for comment despite
repeated attempts.
According to Loudon County
Criminal Court documents, the
couple distributed a Schedule II
substance to the male victim.
The drug was listed as the
“proximate cause of death.”
The couple was charged and held
on bond amounts of $15,000 each.
