News Herald Arrest Report

Couple found with drug paraphernalia, gun

Two people were arrested after police responded to a call of a possible domestic dispute at a Lenoir City motel.

A witness reported hearing a woman scream, “Don’t hurt me, don’t kill me please.” After arriving at the motel, Lenoir City Police Officer Caleb Green met Jacob Harrison Ward, 41, who appeared out of breath. Ward said he had been having sex with his girlfriend, Kimberly A. Shoemaker, 40, who was in the bathroom taking a shower.

“While attempting to locate this female, I observed a firearm, which was loaded, three magazines, and a holster on the bed,” Green wrote in the report. “I also observed several syringes lying on the bed and along the floor.”

After speaking with both individuals, Green requested identification from Shoemaker. She said she had never received a driver’s license and could not remember her Social Security number. Shoemaker claimed her name was Kimberly Ward and gave a wrong birth date.

Dispatch informed Green that Shoemaker had a warrant out of Georgia for felon in possession of a firearm charges.

Shoemaker, Dalton, Ga., was charged with fugitive from justice, unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon, criminal impersonation and possession of drug paraphernalia and held on $13,000 bond.

Ward, 41, Chattanooga, was charged with domestic assault-misdemeanor, possession of drug paraphernalia, fugitive from justice and unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon and held without bond.
