Correction

Anyone that visits my website knows I'm a stickler for getting the facts right and if I made a mistake, I want to correct it. I might have made a slight error.

Back in June when Lenoir City mayor/council passed their 14 cent property tax increase, I made the statement that this was largest property tax increase for Lenoir City in the modern era. That might not be exactly right. It depends on the definition of modern era.

While doing some research on another item, I came across a story from 2005. That year Lenoir City council, which included at the time, now mayor Tony Aikens when he was just a lowly councilman, raised property taxes by 19 cents. I guess 2005 would be considered the modern era? It's a fine line.

So, depending the definition of modern era I may have been right or wrong. But one thing for sure, Lenoir City officials sure like to raise your property taxes.
