Cooper Communities Inc. leaving Tellico VillageFrom Staff Reports Daily Times
Cooper Homes and Cooper Realty is ceasing
operations in Tellico Village, the company’s president announced
Friday.
“CCI (Cooper Communities Inc., the parent of Cooper Homes Inc.) has been in business since 1954 and has survived a number of downturns in real estate in part by making prudent business decisions when warranted,” President John A. Cooper said in a news release. “The decisions regarding Cooper Homes and Cooper Realty have been made to solely to focus on other opportunities in light of current economic conditions. “I want all of Cooper Homes’ customers to know that Cooper Homes’ warranty service will continue as in the past and all customer obligations will be fulfilled. In addition, Cooper Homes will continue to build until all existing contracts are completed.”
CCI still holds commercial and other real estate
assets in the Tellico Village, and operations at the Village
Homes Center will continue. John Cooper III is currently working
with Dan Cooper, former Village president, to build out or sell
some of CCI’s remaining assets in the Village.
“Tellico Village has been one of CCI’s most
successful communities both in land sales and home building,”
said Dan Cooper, who has been involved with Tellico Village
since its inception. “Since 1986, Tellico has the highest
percentage build-out of any of CCI’s communities, reflecting the
quality lifestyle that Tellico Village has to offer.”
