City Park Stays Public

A lot of you have written in to ask what effect the change in the TVA contract with the Marina property might have on City Park at the lake. Here's how I understand the issue according to city officials.

The decision by Lenoir City to withdraw their contract proposal only pertains to the area around the marina/restaurant around the cove to the dry storage building. The rest of the park, sheds, picnic areas, etc. will continue to be managed and maintained by the city and continue to be for public use. The city has a thirty year contract for all those areas.

Lenoir City businessman and developer has subleased the marina area from the city for several years. It is expected that Loy will now lease the property directly from TVA however TVA officials did not rule out the possibility that other interested parties might be allowed to make application to lease the property.
