A Chattanooga man has died from injuries he suffered when his
pickup went airborne at an Interstate 75 overpass in Loudon
County and crashed onto the road below, according to the
Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The victim, Mark A. Treadway, 52, died June 19 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, two days after the single-vehicle crash, according to the THP incident report. Treadway was behind the wheel of a 2014 Ford pickup traveling north along I-75 on June 17 when the truck veered onto the median and struck an earthen embankment at the Matlock Bend Road overpass, the report states. The truck sailed off the embankment and struck a concrete retaining wall head-on some 60 feet below. The driver was wearing a seat belt. Before his death, however, Treadway, was cited by Trooper Ryan Smith for driving under the influence of an unspecified drug at the time of the crash, according to the report. |
