Chase Ends Crash
| A high speed chase that started in Kingston ended at
Eaton Cross Roads Monday night. A Highway Patrolman attempted a traffic
stop on a blue minivan that had been driving a bit erratically on Hwy.
58 in Roane County. The driver of the van decided to flee rather than
stop for the THP. The chase wound up back on Interstate 40 heading
North. At some point along the interstate another THP was able to spike
both tires on the right side of the van yet the driver continued turning
south on I-75 South. Before exiting the interstate at the Lenoir City
exit, the driver slowed and the female passenger either jumped or was
pushed from the vehicle. She received only minor injuries.
After leaving the interstate at the Lenoir city exit, the van turned right headed toward Eaton Cross Roads. The driver struck Trooper Tiger Whitt's patrol car. With sparks flying from the bare rims, the van finally lost control just before the intersection at the Cross Roads. The driver was taken into custody. |
