Chalk Up One For LC,
At Least For Now

In the case of Landmark mortgage vs Lenoir City, the city won the case. At least for now. This was the lawsuit brought against the city for tearing down the old A Street Apartments. While the judge found that Lenoir City was wrong in tearing down the buildings, he still ruled in favor of the city because he felt the paperwork that gave ownership of the property to Landmark was insufficient to give them standing in the lawsuit. In other words the city won on a technicality.

Though it was not stated in court, it's a pretty sure bet the judges ruling will be appealed. But for the city, a win is a win and for now the city doesn't have to pay out another high dollar settelment.
