Crash involving school bus kills 1, sends 3 to hospital

wbir.com-A woman was killed, and three people transported to the hospital after a head-on collision involving a school bus carrying nine students in Loudon County.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed that the woman driving the SUV was killed in the crash on Highway 11 near Callaway Road, which happened shortly before 7 a.m.

Personal vehicles took two of the nine students to the hospital. A bus took the other seven students to school.

Crews took the driver of the school bus to Parkwest Hospital, but officials haven't released the extent of the driver's injuries.

The school bus served Loudon County High School and Philadelphia Middle School.

Authorities also haven't released the identity of the woman killed or who is responsible for the crash.

THP has shut down the road, and officials are diverting traffic to county roads.
