Bomb Threat At North Middle School
What was described as a bomb threat at North Middle
School created tension and chaos Tuesday afternoon. The nature of the
bomb threat was unclear at press time but the seriousness given the
event was clear. Officers from Lenoir City fire and police , the Sheriff
Department, Rural Metro, Loudon County Rescue Squad and the Knoxville
Bomb Squad responded to the scene.
The timing of the event could not have been worse, coming just at the time parents were arriving to pick up their children. traffic quickly backed up in all directions while all entrances and exits to the campus were closed. Fortunately the parking lot at the adjacent Central United Methodist Church became the collection point for parents and children. Fortunately the threat was apparently a hoax. |
