LCUB To Negotiate For Shopping Center
LCUB Manager Fred Nelson
Mayor Brookshire
At Monday's hastily special called LCUB board
meeting, the topic was discussion of the possible purchas of the
Save-O-Lot shopping center. LCUB officials have been meeting
with the owners to attempt to reach a sale price. At least two
board members were not in favor of buying the property. Tony
Aikens and Eddie Simpson both raised various concerns about the
timing and the cost associated with buying the property.
Ultimately, with the exception of Aikens and
Simpson, the board voted to allow LCUB chairman, Fred Neilson,
to negotiate with the property owners. However any action to
actually buy the property would still have to come back to the
board for approval. |

At last week's Lenoir City Council work
shop to discuss the possible sale of city hall, several possible
temporary locations for city hall was discussed. One site discussed was
the Save-O-Lot shopping center. Apparently discussions have taken place
whereby LCUB may buy the old shopping center. According to the public
notice, LCUB will be discussing the matter Monday night. |
