Asian Invasion 8

I have done a number of stories about the 400 acres in Hotchkiss Valley now primarily owned by 125 Chinese investors. The investigation on the details of this property deal have been and are still being looked at by the highest offices in the state. Everyone from the top to the bottom feel this deal is not good for Loudon County or Tennessee, but yet, no specific action has been taken on the matter.

At tonight's county commission workshop, 11/20, I will put forth a measure that would prohibit the county planning department from issuing any building permits for any property, owned by or invested in by, non US citizens from countries hostile to the United States. Currently, that list would include, China, Russia, Iraq, North Korea, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Venezuela, Yemen, Syria, and Belarus. This list is from the US State Department.

Does this solve the whole problem, probably not. But at least we're taking some kind of actions while we wait for the state to do something.
