3.0M earthquake detected near Lenoir City

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WATE) - Did you feel that?

A 3.0-magnitude earthquake was detected about 5 miles northwest of Lenoir City or 7 miles west of Farragut at 3:08 p.m. on Thursday.

According to the US Geological Survey, a 3.0-magnitude earthquake can often be felt by people who are inside, especially on upper floors. Stationary cars may rock slightly and vibrations similar to a truck driving by may be felt.

The last earthquake in the East Tennessee area was Sunday, when a 2.3-magnitude quake was detected near Seymour.
